Mel Williamson lives and paints on Salt Spring Island, BC, Canada where she creates work in a variety of genres, including the human figure, landscape, and still life. Philosophically, her paintings are limited in detail so as to invite the viewer to participate in the seeing. Her work has been described as “impressionistic, fresh and honest”.
Mel is known as a generous, kind, and open teacher, excited to share her knowledge and practices in an encouraging manner. She loves painting in all its materiality and possibility and believes there are no mistakes, only progress.
She is represented by three galleries in Canada: Steffich Fine Art (Salt Spring Island, BC), Peninsula Gallery (Sidney, BC), and Art Interiors (Toronto, ON).
