Did you ever want to have family with a villa in Italy? One with a pool, and beautiful rooms overlooking fields of sunflowers….you know fields of gold? Maybe you could visit them every year and tour the country with them. Of course they would be bilingual speaking English and Italian, to help you out. They would have friends all over the country at small, out of the way and memorable restaurants, and even some local vineyards. Sometimes Rick Steves gets it right, but having family is better. Maybe you paint, or maybe you don’t. If you do, sightsee and paint with great artists and tutors who can actually teach. Gifted artists who want you to see and paint with new skills. Maybe you want to bicycle or fly fish and your family friend could make it happen… Montepulciano, Arrezo, Orvieto, Florence by fast train, or special trips to Venice, Lake Como or Sicily. Raffaele and Gennaro Nobile are the family you didn’t know you had. My wife and I have traveled with Raffaele 6 times. I look forward to traveling with him again soon, there’s so much more to see. My favorite toast with Raffaele, “If there is reincarnation, let us all come back as Italian”. After a little wine ask him to do some Elvis for you.

Attending the painting workshops of Tuscany in the Frame in Amalfi, Tuscany, and Sicily has been life-changing. Each location was exquisite in its own way. Raffaele perfectly curated the places we visited and chose painting tutors who patiently coax your artistic side out. Meals were gustatory delights, with fantastic food and wine made even more enjoyable by the amazing company of new friends. Raffaele made sure that we had all we needed and more. Plein air painting is certainly at its best with Tuscany in the Frame!

T uscany in the Frame workshops have changed my life in the most wonderful way. The Villa and accommodations are absolutely spectacular, the surrounding countryside and small historic towns that we travel to are absolutely charming and paint-worthy and the meals both at the Villa and in each of the little places we travel to on a daily basis are delicious and memorable….. I love the “ family-style” meals that we experience together, which gives us ample time to really get to know one another, swap stories and painting trade “ secrets” and, most of all, make new friends from all over the world. Gennaro and Raffaele are the most attentive and congenial of hosts. Their knowledge and thorough research of the specific workshop sites they are hosting is amazing. Great ideas, great locations, great people and the BEST memories!
My wife and I chose Villa Nobile after an extensive search of Italian plein air art destinations and courses. Our host, Raffaele, promised us a great tutor, and offered us an invitation to stay as guests in his home in Tuscany. We’ve traveled with him six times now, and always look forward to our next visit. We’ve had excellent tutors, great food, made new friends, and exceeded our expectations.meals that we experience together, which gives us ample time to really get to know one another, swap stories and painting trade “ secrets” and, most of all, make new friends from all over the world.
