Artists may work in oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels or their preferred medium. The workshop is suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to advanced painters. Instruction will be tailored to each artist’s experience, with a relaxed and encouraging approach.

The emphasis will be on developing confidence, enjoying the creative process and creating paintings that capture your own personal experience of EnPlein Air.

Teaching topics will include:

• Selecting and simplifying a scene
• Creating strong compositions
• Understanding light, shadow and tonal values
• Mixing harmonious colours
• Capturing distance, depth and atmosphere
• Painting buildings, landscapes and natural elements
• Working efficiently outdoors as the light changes
