--------- Workshop description ------------- During this week-long plein air workshop we will explore different aspects of landscape painting, which make painting outdoors a productive and enjoyable experience. We’ll break down seemingly intimidating process into clear steps to follow any time when you take your pastels outdoors: selecting a scene that has a great potential for a successful painting simplifying shapes to create a strong composition and a value map using color layering techniques to achieve depth, texture and luminosity (including different types of underpainting)
We will also discuss how to combine plein air sketches and photo reference for creating studio work that retains the freshness and spontaneity of a plein air piece.
Group demos, discussions, critiques and individual help will provide the opportunity for growth for students of any skill level.
